The Name Game: Two Strategies to Remember People’s Names
Most people find it difficult to remember people’s names. In the following, you will find two workable strategies for remembering the names of people you meet. Using the acronym FACE in one instance and NAME in the other, you are able to remember and employ actionable steps.
1. FACE (Focus, Ask, Comment, Employ)
Focus on them.
Ask them a question about their name (ie. “How do you spell it?”).
Comment about the name and reference it in your head (ie. “I have a brother named William”).
Employ the name (ie. “Goodbye William”).
2. NAME (Nominate, Articulate, Morph, Entwine)
Nominate a facial feature.
Articulate about it (It is small, rounded, hairy, etc).
Morph the name (ie. Turn Amy into “aim” or a “target”).
Entwine (you picture a “target” on her face represented by a mole).
